This is extraordinary! I presume the author is British, but he writes the best pastiche AND parody of the American 1940's - 1950's schlock private eye novels I’ve ever read. A modern English PI with a two-bit business narrates and solves a complex mystery quite like a series of American paperbacks, while obsessively reading one of them. The current mystery, the 1950's paperback, and the linkage in his mind between the two, are all excellently merged, and very funny, in this book. I highly recommend it.Product details
