Depression is not an antidepressant deficiency!
Depression is the most common mood disorder in the world and in all likelihood one of the most diagnosed and treated/medicated conditions globally. It is estimated that more than 121 million people in the world suffer from depression.
How to Break the Grip of Depression takes you on a journey with Robert, from the events leading to his diagnoses with clinical depression to his victory over this awful illness. Through diligent research, counseling and a number of changes in lifestyle and diet he managed to overcome it.
Robert says about his depression
Food lost its taste, life had no pleasures, the trees were grey, the sky always looked overcast and no amount of love from my wife or family could make me feel better. The sun lost its shine. Doubt, grief, shame and guilt became my constant companions. … I was irritable and my short temper hurt them. ... I could not even love my family, “what a loser”.
This is what Robert reports after successfully breaking the grip of depression
Hope, love, happiness and purpose have pushed doubt, grief, shame and guilt out the door.
Things have changed for the better. My family still love me and I love and appreciate them now much more than ever. I am following a healthy diet and have lost a lot of weight already. I am off the anti-depressants and am using some of the herbal and natural medicines described in this book. It has made an enormous difference and best of all it has no side effects.
Food tastes good again the sun is shining warm on my face, the trees are green, and the sky is the most beautiful blue that I have ever seen. I have learned to appreciate the beautiful and small things again.
Everything and much more than what I needed to get me out of the grip of depression is described in this book. It is my sincere wish that you will also find it and that you will be able to break free from the grip that you are in right now.

How to Break the Grip of Depression Read How Robert Declared War On Depression And Beat It! edition by John McArthur Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
My sister suicided in 1992, due to severe depression, and my brother now suffers from severe depression. As a result, I have always been acutely aware of it and its effects and the severity and disastrous consequences of depression, if not identified and treated properly. There are always warning signs that should never be ignored or dismissed as trivial. Many of us have first-hand experience with depression, due to either suffering from it ourselves or watching a loved one suffer. It can come in different forms and can be due to various factors, such as a biochemical imbalance, interpersonal relationships, learned helplessness and aggression turned inwards. The story at the beginning about the journey of a personal friend of the authors - Robert - is profoundly poignant and really explains in detail the severity with which depression can hit us and the disturbing range of physical and emotional symptoms and conditions, some of which can cause serious health issues.
Chapters include: understanding depression (including info on anti-depressants), why do we get depressed, the physical causes of depression, the emotional causes of depression, 10 natural ways to break the grip of depression, anxiety, panic attacks and depression, the 4 pillars of healthy living (the third pillar being a health-promoting diet), the importance of breathing and posture, exercise for health and wellbeing, fats: the good, the bad and the ugly, 9 mental tricks to put into practice, 10 steps to freedom and here is motivation for you: an inspirational speech from a movie.
There is even a test you can take, comprising 48 questions that you can answer in order to determine your personal levels of optimism!
There is a HUGE amount of highly detailed information here on the different types of depression and what you can do to cure it or at least alleviate the syptoms, including types of exercise and diet, the importance of fiber, plant-based diets, supplements such as probiotics, and many pages of detailed information on the constituents of a healthy diet, including therapeutic foods (ginger, soy, carrots etc), nutritional information on basic food types such as vegetable oils: the good and the bad facts, the fat content of many different types of legumes, meats, fish and vegetables and eliminating refined sugar and the intake of food additives. The rest are too numerous to list here!
It is accompanied by statistics, diagrams and charts to illustrate and emphasise the point being made, including many diagrams demonstrating certain exercise/stretching techniques. This book is a depression "bible" and is the most detailed and comprehensive guide I have read from this author. Depression is a very common affliction of humanity, and chances are you or someone you know, be it a friend or a family member, suffers from it, although the degree of severity varies greatly. As it says in the quote at the end of the story in the first chapter: "You Can Break the Grip, You Don't Have to Accept It, Believe It, You Can Do It." This is absolutely true. Despite the tragedies I have seen in my own family, I truly believe that nobody is beyond help. You are not alone!! If you are in need of expert advice on depression for yourself or a loved one, I highly recommended this comprehensive, professionally-presented, thorough and compassionate guide!

How to Break the Grip of Depression Read How Robert Declared War On Depression And Beat It! edition by John McArthur Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
This book will be interesting and fun to read
I would recommend this book for the person
Who wants to be informed about this book
Every year I get winter depression so reading this book could not have come at a better time for me! It's really not feasible to take an anti depressant for a few months each year considering all the side effects and the fact that you have to wean yourself off the drug so by the time I do that it's time to start taking it again, what a vicious cycle! This book has been a godsend for keeping me off the anti depressants this year and hopefully every year afterwards!
Even if you have not been diagnosed with depression, we all can benefit from this story of trial and triumph. A very powerful and tear jerking introduction is followed by an inspirational story of success. The information on types of depression and types of symptoms was very useful but the real hope came in the author's success. The author also went into great detail about the possible environmental factors that could be causing ones depression, and how to change your life in a positive way. A great message for all and very well written, highly recommended.
Found this book by accident -but so glad I did. Really easy to read and understand, A must-read and if you allow it, you can change your life! I'm especially bad during my winter depression and it's not that I don't care I just don't care enough. But this book has helped me to care enough again. I feel better about myself, my life and my home. Great self help aid for everyone -those suffering from depression -their relatives and loved ones , and those who would like to help prevent the onslought of depression.
It's easy to be critical of a book like this. It's not very well written, more like a good high school paper. However, the information is there that you need to move forward from the cloud in which most of us live in when we experience major depressive episodes. We all have to take responsibility for the lives we lead, especially when it comes to our nutritional lifestyle, willingness to ask for help, understanding the research from both the pro-medication and anti-medication side of this illness and accepting the fact that a pill is not the answer to all of the battles this illness forces us to fight. What this book is is a gathering of information. Many of us who suffer from major depressive episodes have been on the search for the "right" book; the "right" pill; the break through that will save us from the effort it takes to recover from this illness. As the pharmaceutical companies continue to "improve" their medications and suppress the studies that tell us that placebos are just as effective as their expensive medications, we absolve ourselves from the fact that it is only when we take steps to reassert control over our lives that the weight of depression leaves us. Fighting the avoidance of responsibility and making excuses is the biggest battle for us who fight this insidious illness. The only thing this book does is let you know the other side of the coin; the one that says recovery from depression may not involve new drug after new drug but maybe just a short trial with a medication that works for you, and as you are able to pull yourself out of the dungeon with the kick start of whatever medication that is, what to do next. That of course, is the real question and the real answer to long term recovery. After a 20 year battle with this illness and a journey through the rainbow of medications being offered, stopping the avoidance, stopping the blaming, the bad relationships, drinking, smoking, bad bosses, crappy jobs, poor nutrition, then using medication as a short term tool rather than a "cure", was I able to make real strides forward. This book only reinforces what we already know. Until we take the smallest steps toward controlling some part of our life and building on that, no matter how minor, then the cycle never ends and our endless search for the right medication will never end and taking responsibility for and control of our lives will never come, which is the only true cure for depression. That's what's in the book.
